- African Americans
don't read!

- This is a response to the email
article called "Blacks don't read."
-
- Heavvvvvvvy is a great description of
this article. It reminds me of the basketball games in High school,
when losing all the European Americans would chant: "That's
alright, that's okay, 'cause you'll work for me some day".
-
- I must admit that they were right on the
money, though. No matter how inflammatory of a statement this
seems, to be true, I'll go one further that they didn't mention.
The new form of slavery is athletics. Some would say "You're
crazy; athletics, how?" Simple, we dominate in almost every
sport, including golf now with Tiger Woods, no matter what he
says, he is considered an African American, Fuzzy Zeller made
that quite clear. We get paid millions of dollars doing our "jobs".
Most of our inner-city children see Athletics or The Entertainment
Industry as the "way out". What they don't see is that
the person writing the check, out of their bank account is of
European descent.
-
- The team owner(s) are European American.
How many African American owners are there in the NBA, NFL, MLB,
NHL, etc? You don't have to surf the 'Net, look at ESPN, listen
to the best Radio Sports Station, or ask the resident Guru.
-
- I'll tell you . . . none. In any language,
slang or proper vernacular, however you want to say it our representation
in the area of ownership is nonexistent. They pay us to make
their accounts and assets greater and when we can no longer produce
or there is someone younger, less seasoned, or just more productive
they "TRADE" us (SLAVE TRADES OF THE 21st Century).
-
- They measure how fast we can run, how
high we can jump, how much we can lift, how far we can throw,
how often we can catch, how accurate we can hit/shoot, etc.
-
- All of these are physical attributes that
have nothing to do with our true examples of humanity. Sure,
it appears as though we are compensated well for our troubles
but what we make is only a small portion, in comparison, of what
the team owner makes. Remember that what we make is limited to
a contract, or more plainly, a short time frame and retirement
is only a fraction of what we made in the time we competed.
-
- Most of the time we blow it on any and
everything we want - cars, houses, jewelry, drugs, and alcohol.
What is worst is that most of us have no real concept of investing.
Some of the sports are even detrimental to the body. Isn't it
odd how there are more ex- European Americans -players who are
sports casters/announcers than ex-African-Americans-players?
Who's preparing for their future, and who is just living for
the moment?
-
- Our kids see and IDENTIFY with the athlete
and aspire to be so while forsaking education.
- European American kids see and IDENTIFY
with the owners and pursue and education to learn how to own
their own team or some kind of business to interact with the
team owner(s) and make perpetual money. This is all at the professional
level.
-
- College is even worse because most of
the athletes are not compensated financially just through gifts.
How many "STAR" college athletes never even make it
to the professional level or make it and fizzle out, never reaching
their full athletic potential? Now they are in a situation of
NO DEGREE, NO REAL KNOWLEDGE, AND NO SKILLS.
-
- Don't get me wrong, I am not bashing athletics
as a whole. I am an ex-scholarship recipient. I think that there
is a lot of good in athletics in its pure form. That pure form
is mostly found in the neighborhoods and small towns of America.
What I did not see is, that when through the means of what is
deemed athletics someone is given the means to control your very
existence, what you drive/wear, where you live, what/how you
eat, and what you buy, there is something wrong.
-
- That is scary . . . for real, man. This
is a touchy and tough subject for me after teaching in the inner
city for five (5) years and still teaching in a somewhat urban
environment. Thanks for the heads up and I appreciate all of
the love through email - even if I don't hit you up that often.
I'm glad I went to that High school to become educated about
THEM as well as to receive and education.
-
- Please feel free to spread this, my response,
abroad if for no other reason to show that we READ and
WRITE!!!"
